The IXO ‘La Storia’ Ferrari F1. Collection has had an incredible journey. From the ‘will it or won’t it ever happen’ stage to what is now a must have collection for any Formula 1. Ferrari Collector.

Early Days - The SF01 and SF02 Models
The Collection was announced in 2001 and TRAX immediately sent details to our Customers. The feedback was unbelievable. Sadly another 18 months passed by before we saw the first two models in the collection - the Ferrari F12000 and the D50. The initial impact was disappointing, mainly due to the long wait. However it was apparent, from the great effort shown in the presentation of each model, that there was huge potential for this collection.

The Packaging
Instead of presenting the models in a standard acrylic case - IXO decided to produce mini ‘works of art’. Firstly there is the sturdy Ferrari liveried outer box. Inside is the ‘book’ tin box which holds the model. Each ‘book’ is individually labelled. Inside the ‘book’, the model rests in its own compartment, together with an interesting booklet detailing the history of the particular car.

The Next Step - The SF03 to SF08 The most positive thing to happen, as the collection began to grow, was that IXO were not afraid to tool up new models of previously unreleased F1. cars. They could have easily churned out models from the earlier collection, which was abruptly stopped in the 1990s. This really impressed Collectors. The third release to be produced was the 1963 156F1, a very good replica, followed by the 312T, which had been produced before. The fifth release saw another brand new model, the 1949 Ferrari 125F1, followed by the 641/F190 and the 312B2 from 1971 (more new tooling). The 126C3 rounded off these new releases. .
Then there was the SF09...
The La Storia Collection had a very interesting and challenging start. However it was about to take a significant turn with the release of SF09 the Ferrari 256 from 1959. When this model was announced, we were not immediately struck by its importance. However, when the replica actually came into stock, it truly astounded us, taking the collection to a new level. In many aspects, the production of this replica was finished to a hand built, premium quality standard that you would normally find in one of our SMTS or TAMEO built models. The extra detailing, the weight of the model etc. was amazing, especially when considering the price.

The Collection Is Now A Must Have - SF10 to SF16 The real acid test of a collection is how well a manufacturer produces modern replicas, as these are such a departure from more historic models. For example, how good will all the additional aerodynamic parts look? We didn’t have to worry, the F310 and F2003 proved to be exceptional pieces. .
Latest Releases SF17 to SF19 One of the latest La Storia releases, which many Customers rate highly, is the 312B3/74 - just simply a beautiful car and a beautiful replica. Although there have been many top sellers in this collection, this model has been exceptionally successful for TRAX. .
. The latest releases have also included the Ferrari 312T2 the championship winning car of Lauda. Many World Championship Collectors were also eager to see this one released as they had missed out on earlier releases. .
Now with nearly twenty models released, the La Storia Collection is really taking shape to form a very series collection. Whether you are a fan of Ferrari or not, you cannot disagree that the team are Motorsport history itself. Sometimes great drivers flatter an ordinary car or a great car flatters an ordinary driver. Sometimes it is just the sheer beauty of the machine, which holds our fascination. This collection has it all.

The first releases can be ordered via the website. All other unreleased models in the collection can be ‘Reserve Ordered’ in the usual ways. Although we may be out of stock of one or two models, TRAX will definitely be able to supply re-stocks at a future date. So you will not miss out. For new Customers who would like to own the entire ‘La Storia’ Collection, TRAX can set up a standing order for the collection. You can choose to have models sent as and when they are released. Or alternatively TRAX can set up a standing order for you, sending you either 1 model per month or 2 models per month therefore spreading the cost of purchasing the collection - making it a little easier.
